Sarasota, Florida (PRWEB) March 12, 2013
The Sarasota Association of Realtors® (SAR) marks its 90th year in 2013 ready to enter a new era in further professionalizing and boosting its roster of members, Sarasota Bay Real Estate said. The full service real estate firm noted that growth of SAR membership has accelerated, with some 70 new members admitted in the February-March period this year.
Membership in the association is now nearing close to the 4,000-mark, and the recent uptick reverses the decline experienced in the 2006-2008 period which heralded the collapse of the housing market with the onset of the Great Recession. The association’s membership hit the 5,000 level at the height of the housing boom in 2005, Sarasota Bay Real Estate recalled.
Raising the bar for total customer satisfaction
Notably, the recent rise in SAR membership comes on the heels of the association’s intensified initiatives of “raising the bar” in the capability of its members to provide total customer satisfaction in the real estate market. This thrust is in pursuit of the association’s stated mission “to advance members’ professionalism through delivery of education and resources while upholding the Realtors® Code of Ethics.”
In 20012, SAR undertook several programs to provide quality training opportunities to its members. Besides new member orientation and Code of Ethics Training, the association also conducted leadership development and formal class instruction on luxury home marketing and servicing repeat/referral customers, among other programs. SAR also has its Sarasota School of Real Estate which holds pre-license and broker classes.
Elaborating on professionalism, Roger Piro, the incumbent SAR president, said what SAR wants is for its members to be known as trusted advisors and true professionals. “This goal became the basis for this year’s theme of ‘raising the bar,’” he explained. To accomplish this, Piro added, SAR will engage brokers and managers to help the association continue members’ training and education. For this year, he said, special emphasis will be given on initiating a property management program and providing more technology training.
SAR moving to a bigger home
These SAR objectives are expected to be immensely bolstered by the completion of a larger and modern headquarters where the association will be transferring late this April. This new 15,000-square-foot state-of-the art building incorporates a spacious auditorium which can be divided into three separate sections for meetings and class training. SAR’s new home will likewise have more office space for its 12-man staff, meeting rooms, and doubled parking capacity.
The new SAR headquarters, which broke ground just last July, is located at 2320 Cattlemen Road, a short distance east of the Colonial Oaks community and northwest of Sarasota Golf Club and the Bent Tree Golf and Country Club. It is also just off west of Interstate 75, making the SAR home base easily accessible.
Its design came from the drawing boards of DSDG, Inc.’s Mark Sultana. The building project was contracted to Halfacre Construction. Green standard certification under LEED criteria is also being sought for the SAR headquarters which truly represent another milestone in Sarasota’s real estate sector.
