ViaSat Supplying Kongsberg Satellite Services with 7.3m Antennas to Be Installed in Svalbard

Share Article

ViaSat, Inc. (Nasdaq:VSAT) will provide two 7.3 meter antenna systems to Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) of Troms0, Norway, for receiving satellite imagery (remote sensing) and satellite monitor and control. ViaSat Antenna Systems will install one 7.3 meter X-band receive antenna and one 7.3 meter X-band receive and S-band Telemetry, Tracking & Command (TT&C) antenna system at the KSAT SvalSat site in Svalbard.

A variety of customers use the services of KSAT. With its location in the very far northern latitudes, it has one of the greatest frequencies of overhead passes of polar orbiting satellites, providing it with greater data download opportunities. Satellite imagery customers use the images for crop management, fisheries, marine surveillance, town management, and other applications. Other satellite operators use KSAT TT&C capabilities to monitor and control their satellites. ViaSat had previously installed a 7.3 meter X-band receive and S-band TT&C antenna system at the KSAT TrollSat site in Antarctica.
