In the NASCAR world, speed and performance is everything. Shaving seconds off the clock can make the difference between winning and losing
McLean, VA (Vocus) February 9, 2009
Spacenet Inc., one of the world's leading providers of satellite networking solutions, announced that its high-performance Connexstar satellite communications services have been deployed to support Command Center Trailers for Michael Waltrip Racing, a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series racing organization. The system was deployed by Spacenet channel partner, Orbital Enterprises, a leading provider of fixed and mobile satellite communications systems.
Michael Waltrip Racing requires reliable communications services for its Command Center Trailers supporting teams at the NASCAR races. The trailers serve as a key communications outlet during the races, providing the latest race information and weather updates across multiple work stations and flat screen monitors. Michael Waltrip Racing is using Spacenet's Connexstar Performance series for transportable satellite services to support high-speed data in the trailers, including critical data transport between the command center and its engineering teams in Charlotte, North Carolina. Orbital Enterprises designed the system for the Command Center Trailers using a transportable auto-acquire antenna.
"In the NASCAR world, speed and performance is everything. Shaving seconds off the clock can make the difference between winning and losing," said Michael Waltrip Racing Director of Information Technologies Patrick Hughes. "We looked at several providers to support our communications requirements, and out of all of them, Spacenet was the only service that provided guaranteed minimum assured network speeds, ensuring reliable and consistent performance. Our Command Center Trailers, utilizing Spacenet's satellite services combined with the design and integration expertise of Orbital Enterprises, provides us with the reliable and rapidly deployable communications system that we require, ultimately helping us be more competitive."
"Spacenet is excited to support Michael Waltrip Racing, and our satellite network provides a critical component for the team's success at the NASCAR races," said Spacenet President and COO Glenn Katz. "As a top competitor, Michael Waltrip Racing thrives in a fast-paced environment. Spacenet's satellite services and unmatched speed guarantees, combined with Orbital Enterprises' design expertise, are an ideal match to meet the team's high-performance requirements."
