Curb appeal is the key to a home getting noticed by potential buyers. Good curb appeal sets the stage for what’s to come inside the home.
Bedford Hills, NY (PRWEB) May 10, 2010
SavATree is pleased to announce that Martha Hines Kolko, Realtor with RE/MAX Village Square Realtors in Upper Montclair, NJ and her client, won their FREE Landscape Makeover Contest!
Over 50 properties were submitted for consideration. Ms. Kolko's client's property was selected “because the trees and shrubs were significantly overgrown and the lawn was overtaken by weeds” explained Steve Schilling, a certified arborist with SavATree.
Schilling assessed the trees, shrubs and lawn to identify existing health problems, potential safety issues and any other causes for concern. He replaced the trees and shrubs that were not salvageable and pruned what remained to create a more balanced, landscape that complements both the look of the outside of the home as well as the view of the front yard from the living room window. This also allows more sunlight to enter the home.
To restore, thicken and rid the lawn of weeds, several applications of fertilizer where administered over the course of three months. In addition, the canopy above the yard was trimmed to allow more, much needed, sunlight through to the lawn.
Tom O’Shea Landscape Design expanded the existing flower bed and added colorful plants. They also added a small garden at the bottom of the driveway to welcome guests and deter people from driving on --and in turn -- damaging the lawn.

The homeowner and her Realtor where thrilled with the results. “You only get one chance to make a first impression! When selling a house, curb appeal is one of the most important factors – no doubt (SavATree’s) services improved the curb appeal of this home,” explained Ms. Kolko.
The home is set to go on the market in the near future. Stay tuned to see how it sells!
A special thanks to Tom O’Shea Landscape Design and Landscape Supply, Inc, for their help designing a layout, selecting plants, delivering materials and all of their hard work.
