For more than 20 years, Scartelli has handled a wide range of complex personal injury matters on behalf of seriously injured plaintiffs throughout the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania. Her areas of practice include automobile accidents, auto defects, construction and workplace accidents, defective drugs and medical devices, insurance bad faith, liquor liability, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, premises liability, product liability, professional liability and psychiatric malpractice.
A leader within her profession, Scartelli has served on the Lackawanna Bar Association Board of Directors, sits on the Social Committee of the Luzerne County Bar Association and has served as President of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. She is one of the few female Pennsylvania plaintiffs’ attorneys that has been recognized as a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is a member of the prestigious Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Scartelli has also been recognized as a 2009 and 2010 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer.
Distasio serves as vice president of Scartelli, Distasio & Kowalski. A shareholder with the firm, he focuses on personal injury litigation with an emphasis on car accidents, truck accidents, tractor trailer accidents and motorcycle accidents, as well as product liability and premises liability lawsuits. Distasio is an active member of numerous professional organizations. He served on the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania Hearing Committee from 2002-2008, which represents the maximum term for this appointment. As a Hearing Committee member, Distasio has heard cases and reviewed files concerning attorney conduct in Pennsylvania. He was also recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in 2009 and 2010.
Kowalski is an experienced trial and appellate attorney who represents individuals and their families in personal injury matters. His areas of concentration include medical malpractice, automobile and truck accidents, nursing home negligence, medication errors, defective medical devices, premises liability and psychiatric malpractice. He is an officer of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and has served on the organization’s Board of Directors since 1998. He sat on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice from 2004 through 2007, and is a member of the Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association Civil Rules Committee. Kowalski is a past recipient of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Outstanding Leadership Award. He was previously recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in 2009 and 2010.
