Last quarter’s competition was a huge success, with thousands of writers submitting entries based on Sherlock Holmes screenwriter Simon Kinberg’s logline
Burbank, CA (PRWEB) February 10, 2011
The Industry Insider Screenwriting Contest is now accepting entries for their quarterly screenwriting competition. This one-of-a-kind contest presents a stellar logline from a successful screenwriter, and asks entrants to create up to the first 15 pages of the script. Finalists enter a 12-week mentoring program with the goal of completing a full screenplay. The lucky winner receives a full Hollywood experience, including lush accommodations at the Chateau Marmont, lunch at The Ivy with “Just Go With It” screenwriter Allan Loeb, and one-on-one meetings with Industry giants like Benderspink.
“Last quarter’s competition was a huge success, with thousands of writers submitting entries based on Sherlock Holmes screenwriter Simon Kinberg’s logline,” said Jesse Douma, co-founder of the Industry Insider Contest and President of The Writers Store. “The top 10 finalists are in the midst of their 12-week mentorship program, working to turn their 15 pages into a finished script. The lucky winner will be announced in April.”
This quarter’s logline comes from Allan Loeb, the scribe behind “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps,” “The Dilemma,” and the soon-to-be-released Adam Sandler comedy “Just Go With It”: “A group of married men desperate for one last bachelor party invents a long-lost friend who’s about to be wed, but things get out of control when their wives want to meet the groom before the big event.”
The top 10 finalists receive Development Notes and enter into a 12-week mentoring program with The Writers Store’s Story Specialists, consisting of feedback and guidance for every 10 pages submitted, with the goal of completing a screenplay that will be judged by Loeb and Benderspink. The lucky winner receives transportation and accommodations in Hollywood, lunch with Loeb, a one-on-one with a top Industry agent, a meeting with Benderspink, and more.
This quarter’s competition is supported by The Writers Store, Final Draft screenwriting software, and production company Benderspink. Future sponsors and loglines from A-list screenwriters will be announced soon.
The deadline to enter is March 31, 2011. For complete details and to enter, visit http://www.writersstore.com/industry-insider-screenwriting-contest.
