The Insight 6.5 release adds several features which further strengthen Scribe's growing position among deployments at large enterprises. Scribe Insight 6.5 adds a Web Services adapter, Failover/Disaster Recovery (leveraging Microsoft Clustering Technologies), Support for Windows Server 2008 64-bit, and Windows Authentication among a number of features designed to enhance flexibility and usability. Scribe's Product Development and Product Management teams based the new release on product feedback submitted directly by Scribe customers and partners through Scribe's community feedback portal OpenMind.
Scribe Vice President of Products, Robert Sturim, commented on several of version 6.5's new features:
- Scribe's new Web Services adapter will allow Scribe customers to configure, without coding, integrations to any legacy and commercial applications that expose Web Services Application Programming Interfaces (API). This dramatically expands the scope of endpoints to which Scribe can integrate. Further, it requires only knowledge of Scribe configuration and Web Services concepts to do so.
- Support for Failover and Disaster Recovery leveraging Microsoft Clustered Server technology provides Scribe users the ability to automatically switch to a redundant or standby computer server, system, or network upon the failure or abnormal termination of the previously active server, system, or network. This directly supports larger, business critical integrations where downtime and data loss are not tolerated.
- Earlier versions of Scribe Insight supported 64 bit environments on Windows Server 2003. Scribe Insight 6.5 extends support to Windows Server 2008 64-bit. Because the size and scale of Scribe deployments continues to grow in terms of number of endpoints integrated, size of data sets and scale of linked business applications we are finding our customers are increasingly deploying more 64-bit servers in their data centers.
- The addition of Windows Authentication to access Scribe's internal database responsible for error logging, integration settings, cross reference tables, and important integration statistics increases the security of the Scribe solution and allows it to comply with increasingly tighter Information Technology Security policies in larger enterprises.
