New EDTEC Department Workshops enable educators and training professionals to update skills and earn graduate credits with a choice of online or on-campus courses.
These seminars were designed to allow past and current students as well as practicing education, training and performance professionals to learn, discuss and explore practical applications involving cutting-edge technologies and topics

San Diego (PRWEB) May 21, 2007 -- San Diego State University's Department of Educational Technology will debut its popular Saturday Seminars in Educational Technology in an online format during the 2007 Summer Session along with its normal schedule of graduate courses offered both online and on campus. Available to online students worldwide, this summer's selection of seminar topics includes:

  • Blogs, Wikis, and Collaborative Learning
  • Advanced Digital Video
  • Designing and Managing Learning for the Global Audience
  • 3D Multi-User Learning Environments (*online only)

Each course in the Seminar Series takes the form of a 1-unit workshop-style program that mixes highly interactive synchronous class meetings (either on campus or online*) with between-meeting discussions (online), readings, and project-based assignments. Students may take one or more of the Seminars, and up to six units of credit from seminars can be applied towards a Master's degree in Educational Technology.

"These seminars were designed to allow past and current students as well as practicing education, training and performance professionals to learn, discuss and explore practical applications involving cutting-edge technologies and topics," explained Educational Technology department chair Dr. Marcie Bober. "Students interested in professional development can update and extend their skills in this fast-paced and fun workshop format that also includes lively online discussions and extensive resource material for later reference."
