Seagate's DriveTrust technology provides robust endpoint data security that provides additional security for VolumeShield's AntiCopy software
HOUSTON (PRWEB) September 25, 2007
Endpoint data loss and leakage is a serious concern for companies worldwide. According to the 2006 CSI/FBI Computer Crime and Security Survey, two of the top three concerns of IT professionals were data protection and leakage of proprietary information. Data stored on laptop and desktop PCs is especially vulnerable to loss via theft of the system itself, or inappropriate use of removable storage devices.
VolumeShield AntiCopy enhances the security of data on corporate PCs by controlling and auditing access to removable storage such as USB drives. As a result of the partnership with Seagate, VolumeShield's AntiCopy product will be able to store critical security policies and compliance information within secret, highly secure regions of Seagate's DriveTrust hard drives, hardening the controls against tampering.
Seagate DriveTrust technology is a powerful security platform that combines strong, fully automated hardware-based security with a programming foundation that makes it easy for software applications to help lock down digital information at rest. DriveTrust can also automatically encrypt all hard drive data to prevent unauthorized access if the computer is lost or stolen. DriveTrust powers Seagate's Momentus 5400 FDE.2, the world's first 2.5-inch laptop hard drive with built-in encryption, and can be integrated with desktop, enterprise and external hard drives.
"Seagate's DriveTrust technology provides robust endpoint data security that provides additional security for VolumeShield's AntiCopy software," said John Bedrick, Sr. Director, Strategic Marketing - IT Security New Market Development, at Seagate. "Our collaboration will provide VolumeShield customers with strong protection against data leakage through removable storage devices. Seagate is pleased to be working with VolumeShield and other independent software vendors to deliver the most powerful data security available."
"Data theft and loss at the endpoint is a critical issue for all companies today, particularly healthcare and financial services organizations that are subject to stringent regulations on the handling of sensitive information," said Emily Thurman, Product Manager for VolumeShield, "We are very excited about our partnership with Seagate; our combined solution secures data at rest and protects it from misuse."
The combined solution from Seagate and VolumeShield is planned to be available during Q4 2007. AntiCopy is currently available directly from VolumeShield and is priced at $19.95 per protected endpoint, with volume discounts available.
