Owning a Learning Express toy store is one of the most unique and personally rewarding opportunities available in today’s franchise market
Ayer, MA (PRWEB) May 09, 2011
Despite the economic climate, demographic studies conducted for specific cities in Washington and Oregon indicate a strong success potential for new Learning Express franchises. According to these studies, franchise business opportunities exist in the Seattle, Bellevue, and Tacoma WA, as well as the Portland and Vancouver, OR areas. Learning Express plans to open 15-20 new toy store franchises in 2011.
Ask any evolutionary biologist—in a volatile environment with limited resources, specialization is the key to survival. In 2010, a franchise of specialty toy stores proved the theory. Learning Express, the nation’s leading educational toy retailer, opened fourteen new locations and six temporary “pop-up” stores for the holiday season. The company also reported that sales were up from the previous year. According to CEO Sharon DiMinico, it’s all thanks to specialization and adaptation.
“The kind of homogenous approach you find in many franchises is not the answer when people are investing in their future,” says DiMinico. “Learning Express is built for the independent entrepreneur. Our franchisees benefit from nearly thirty years of experience and we have a significant support system in place, but there’s a lot of freedom. We want our stores to be unique and special in their local community. The cookie-cutter approach doesn’t work with our concept; our owners need to be responsive to their regional markets.”
While Learning Express has historically relied primarily on this type of grassroots marketing, in May of 2011 the company partnered with Educational Insights, a manufacturer of high quality educational toys and the sponsor of the first-ever Jeopardy! Teachers Tournament. Learning Express was named as the retail destination for Educational Insights products advertised during the Jeopardy! tournament, generating unprecedented brand exposure for the franchise. The company will celebrate its 2011 successes at this year’s Annual Learning Express Convention, scheduled to take place in Jacksonville, FL this June.
