The 2007 Second Life Community Convention is the largest real-world gathering of Second Life enthusiasts, marketers and programmers to date, making it the most important social event for the ballooning virtual world. Though it is taking place in real life in Chicago, the convention is also being streamed online into Second Life, and onto major in-world host spots, including the popular Activ8 Island Complex.
Second Life residents from around the globe who cannot attend the Second Life Community Convention in person are flocking to the Activ8 Island Complex in Second Life to partake in Business, Social, Education and Machinima informational tracks. The conference runs the full length of the weekend and includes a keynote speech from Linden Lab CEO Philip Rosedale, creator of the popular virtual world.
The unique ability of Second Life to connect people from throughout the globe in both the real and virtual worlds is being highlighted by Activ8's hosting of the Second Life Community Convention.
