With tax season in full swing, self-directed IRA provider announces a significant discount for setting up self-directed retirement account prior to the end of the 2012 tax season. “Tax season is the time of year when investors have IRA contributions top-of-mind,” says Troy Jenkins, VP of marketing. “Because tax season can be a busy time for many investors, we like to incentivize IRA or 401(k) conversion into an IRA LLC.” Both Roth and Traditional self-directed IRAs provide some unique benefits not available to standard retirement account holders.

Most current IRAs and 401(k)s have been hit fairly dramatically by the rampant market swings in recent years. Luckily with an IRA LLC, the investor has more localized control over how the money is spent on very specific private investments.

With the barriers significantly lower, individual investors can take advantage of alternative assets with IRA funds. For instance, the a self-directed account can be used to invest in things like precious metals, financial paper, private business, private placement and even real estate. For the real estate IRA investor, checkbook control means distressed properties can transfer into your hands almost immediately and be flipped for a profit with no tax liability.

In addition, many are currently using their self-directed IRA as a hedge against potential inflation by investing in precious metals like gold and silver. Often referred to as a gold IRA, the IRA can help provide some security when interest rates begin to rise and the value of the dollar falls. “In essence, gold and real estate IRAs can help to mitigate against the retirement risk of rampant inflationary pressure on the Fiat currency held in your IRA,” says Jenkins.

Other, sometimes more sophisticated and connected investors, even use their self-directed account to invest in private equity and private placement opportunities. “As long as investors play within the self-directed IRA rules, the possibilities and returns can be substantial,” Jenkins says.
