LifeStorage, Chicago self storage provider for home and business, is proud to announce its Mokena facility as a recipient of a 2011 Beautification Award. This year 64 homes and 32 businesses in the Village of Mokena, IL, were selected to receive the award. LifeStorage was chosen from over 700 businesses as one of the winners.

The award was created in 1997 by the Mokena Community Affairs Commission and is given each year to homes and businesses that are well-maintained, colorful, and enhance the beauty of the Village. For the selection process, volunteer judges are assigned sections of Mokena where they make two passes during different seasons, and then select three winners from each section that represent and embody the spirit of the Beautification Award.

LifeStorage Mokena store managers Kelly Butt and Corey Tolbert attribute winning to hard work and maintaining the appearance of their facility, particularly through their landscaping service. “Our landscaper company, CNC Lawn Care Inc., has maintained the property for two years and keep everything looking fantastic. We have a variety of seasonal plants that keep the facility colorful year round,” Butt said.

Butt continues: “I have worked in Mokena for 19 months and it’s a very special community that works for and with the residents and businesses. As one of the newest LifeStorage locations, the Mokena Chamber of Commerce has welcomed us to the area and provided us useful opportunities for our growth in the community.”
“We’re very proud to win the award. It’s not just about landscaping, though. We recognize the Beautification Award is a way to encourage others to improve their appearance, and for us, winning is just a way for us to help keep Mokena a beautiful place to live and work,” Butt said.

Tolbert adds that LifeStorage Mokena has been working diligently since April to continue improving the facility’s appearance beyond the seasonal flora, with new paint, signs, and even a new gate. For Tolbert, it’s the culmination of the planning and effort of his peers, staff, and company that led to winning the award.

“The community has a close-knit feel, full of friendly and helpful people. I’m happy that we have been able to present our company in a good light, and honored to be one of the few selected for this award. I hope that the Beautification Award will help our reputation, and be proof that LifeStorage cares about quality,” Tolbert said.

The 2011 Beautification Award ceremony takes place Thursday, September 29th at 7 pm, at the Local #597 Pipe Fitters Training Facility, 10850 W. 187th Street. The ceremony includes a video presentation, and businesses receive certificates and yard plaques.
