We continue to build on our lead as the provider of the most complete set of technologies for designing, developing and deploying HTML5 applications that address business-to-employee and business-to-consumer needs — Michael Mullany, CEO of Sencha
LONDON (PRWEB) May 03, 2012
Sencha, the leading provider of HTML5 frameworks and tools for desktop and mobile application developers, announced dramatic growth in demand for its frameworks and tools, and accelerating traction among developers globally. To meet demand from its developer ecosystem, Sencha has doubled staffing, opened new offices in Amsterdam and Vancouver, and doubled the footprint of its Silicon Valley headquarters to 30,000 square feet. The announcement was made at the second annual European Sencha community developer conference (SourceDevCon 2012), held here in London.
Enterprise and mobile developers converge on HTML5 and Sencha “open Web” technologies
■ As HTML5 increasingly becomes the accepted basis for next-generation applications, Sencha has experienced record growth in its developer community, with over 350,000 community members now registered and a global developer base of more than 2 million developers in 201 countries. Mobile developers lead the growth in adoption of Sencha technologies, with downloads of Sencha Touch, the Sencha framework for mobile HTML5, now approaching one million — adding to the nearly five million combined downloads of Sencha technologies.
■ Sencha recently welcomed its 9,000th customer, and now over 50 percent of the Fortune 100 use Sencha technologies for their mission-critical desktop and mobile web applications.
At the same time, business application developers, looking for a way to transition from legacy technologies, have also migrated to Sencha. Top interactive agencies and development houses such as Universal Mind and Burrows (a Young and Rubicam Group company) are using Sencha Ext JS and Sencha Touch as the foundation for their projects.
■ Last month, SAP announced that it is partnering with Sencha to offer its users high-performance mobile HTML5 user interfaces for SAP business apps, enabling SAP developers to take advantage of Sencha frameworks to create high-quality mobile apps for business.
■ Sencha was recently identified as a Visionary in the Gartner “Magic Quadrant for Mobile Application Development Platforms.”
“We continue to build on our lead as the provider of the most complete set of technologies for designing, developing and deploying HTML5 applications that address business-to-employee and business-to-consumer needs,” said Michael Mullany, CEO of Sencha. “In just the last two months, we have released our next-generation HTML5 platform comprising Sencha Touch 2, Sencha Architect 2, Sencha GXT 3, and a significantly enhanced Ext JS. We have also enabled our developer community to connect with businesses looking for help with their HTML5 projects by launching the Sencha Certified Partner program and a completely revamped http://www.senchadevs.com.”
“We use Sencha Touch to develop apps for our clients, including Ford of Europe, because we get the best HTML5 user experience with a modern, elegant UI and performance that rivals native. Using Sencha Touch layouts, we get native-feeling transitions and our app is resolution-independent. Plus, the built-in MVC technology allowed us to quickly and easily integrate with Ford’s back-end data. Sencha Touch gives us the flexibility to build engaging mobile apps that inspire users.” – Ricky Clegg, Front End Developer, Burrows, a division of Young and Rubicam Group Ltd., London, England.
“Using Sencha Ext JS, we built a detailed prototype of our complex enterprise financial application in a handful of days. We moved into production with only two dedicated client-side developers, delivering the initial version of the product inside 12 months. The rich UI components such as fully featured grids, trees and form panels, plus a comprehensive charting engine, make development a quick and painless process. Plus, we were able to easily integrate our back-end using Ext Direct, taking of lot of the complexity out of traditional asynchronous client-server communication. Ext JS provides us and our clients with a true desktop-like experience on the Web.” – Martyn West, Product Architect at Altus Ltd., Bath, England.
