The We Honor Veterans program of Senior Independence Hospice is all about uniting with our community to provide those who served our nation with special recognition for their sacrifice.
Akron, Ohio (PRWEB) May 13, 2013
The Akron regional office of Senior Independence Hospice has achieved level-three recognition in the We Honor Veterans program for compassionate and caring service to veteran patients who are facing life-limiting illness.
The award is next to the highest recognition level a hospice can earn through the national We Honor Veterans program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
In the We Honor Veterans program, hospice staff members are trained to care for the unique health needs of veterans. Patients are honored for their service through pinning ceremonies, in-home Veterans Day celebrations, and veteran-to-veteran companionship visits.
The community is engaged in giving grateful recognition to the veterans.
"The We Honor Veterans program of Senior Independence Hospice is all about uniting with our community to provide those who served our nation with special recognition for their sacrifice," said Senior Independence Hospice Nurse Nancy Miller, who also is a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel.
