Quality is far and away the No. 1 priority for short run metal stamping customers, according to new research from an Ohio-based metal stamping company.
“The project was initiated because we wanted to gauge how our customers rated our products and services, although we also took this opportunity to survey how they prioritized eight key parameters when it comes to purchasing decisions,” said Rob Stohlman, Vice President of Sales for Willoughby-based Service Stampings, Inc.
“It is clear that above all else, our customers consider quality the most important consideration followed by on-time delivery and then price,” he said.
Based on survey responses, the order of the eight priorities is:
- On-time delivery
- Deliver status updates
- Lead time
- Customer service responsiveness
- Product packaging
“We think this kind of information is valuable for anyone in the manufacturing business, even if you are not a short run metal stamping company,” Stohlman said. “Based on these results, we feel these are the key priorities for any customer of industrial products and services.”
Service Stampings surveyed 73 customers and prospects as part of its research. While the sample size was relatively small, the percentages were so high regarding most choices that it would be reasonable to assume that a larger sample would not provide significantly different data, Stohlman said.
