Racy, an adult toy store e-tailer, shows that vibrator sales are the highest among women shoppers. However, Racy's data reveals that men's sex toys and couple's toys are increasing at a steady rate. Couple's play has always been a staple focus of the sex toy industry. Now studies are showing that vibrators aren't just for women any more, and the incorporation of a vibrator into the bedroom can make participants feel more sexually satisfied.

Forty-five percent of men, polled by Indiana University in a 2009 survey, agreed to having used a vibrator. A majority of the men polled confessed that the vibrator was used to please their partner. However, about 17 percent of male participants used a vibrator for masturbation. A study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, the week of June 29, 2009, revealed that half of all Americans use vibrators.

The growing prevalence of vibrator use has led to results indicating increased sexual satisfaction between couples. "This builds on a lot of previous research that has shown that feeling like you can be intimate with your partner — that you can share things with them about your sexual desires and interests — is very important to a couple's sexual life and a woman's sexual satisfaction," relates Debra Herbenick, lead researcher and associate director at Indiana University's Center for Sexual Health Promotion.'s first and second most researched toys are vibrators designed for couple's play: Screaming O Vibrating Ring, and the Diving Dolphin. "The sales of these two products have been staples for the last couple of years," Director of Marketing for Jonanthan Thralow admits. Both toys are designed to bring vibrating stimulation to both partners, male and female alike. "Between the two products," Thralow comments, "most of the write-in reviews were from men who enjoyed the toys."

Results of a survey, published online Oct. 7 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, revealed that 2,192 American and British women who have sex with women, sharing intimacy while incorporating a vibrator, have said to receive more sexual satisfaction than those using the buzzing sex aid in solo masturbation. Every day new sex toys are being designed to meet the ever growing market demands. "Contributing to healthier, more satisfied sex lives is what is all about" said Thralow.
