Napa, Calif. (PRWEB) January 30, 2013
The San Francisco Chronicle announced their annual Wine Competition Award Winners last week and four local wineries, including Ahnfeldt Wines, Ca’Momi Winery, Ceja Vineyards and pureCru, all of which have wine tasting rooms located in Downtown Napa, received top awards, including Best of Class, Double Gold, Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Ahnfeldt Wines received nine awards, including Best of Class for its 2012 Napa Valley Reserve Merlot. Ahnfeldt Wines also received a Double Gold Medal for its 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Anyone visiting Downtown Napa can experience Ahnfeldt Wines by visiting their tasting room, Uncorked at Oxbow, located at 605 First Street in Napa, directly across the street from Oxbow Public Market.
Ca’ Momi Winery received a total of eight awards, including a Double Gold for its 2010 Napa red blend of Rosso. Ca’ Momi Winery serves a small slice of Italy through its restaurant at Oxbow Market. Ca’ Momi Enoteca, which recently expanded within Oxbow, offers the perfect food to pair with any of the award-winning wines.
Additionally, Ceja Vineyards received seven awards this year in the competition with the 2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon receiving a Gold Medal. The Ceja Vineyards wine tasting room is located in the heart of downtown at 1248 First Street in Napa. Guests can taste and purchase the award winning wine, sample artisan cheese and gourmet food items, all while relaxing and enjoying the work of local artists which adorns the tasting room’s walls.
pureCru, one of the smaller producers of wine in the region, received six awards including two Gold Medal awards for its 2010 Napa Valley Chardonnay and 2009 Napa Valley Sangiovese wines. The pureCru wine tasting room offers a wonderful selection of five red wines and two whites, all of which pair perfectly with food ordered from Oenotri, a great Italian restaurant next door. pureCru also has a large room for private tastings and events. You can visit the tasting room at 1463 First Street in Napa.
The annual wine competition was originally founded as the Cloverdale Citrus Fair Wine Competition, but in 2000 the competition joined forced with the San Francisco Chronicle. Since that time, it has since become the largest competition of American wines in the world.
