Halloween in San Francisco will never be the same!

Announcing the first annual SF MAD DASH 5K Costume Run/Walk and After Party. This special event for all ages takes place in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park at the Polo Fields Stables just off John F. Kennedy Drive on Saturday, October 27 from 9:30am until 2:00pm.

Participants are invited and encouraged, to stick around for the after-party by the Polo Field Stables to enjoy frightfully delicious food, devilish drinks, and monstrously macabre music. All ages are welcome (costumes optional) to run, walk, and party. There will be plenty of entertainment, including a costume contest, kids zone, beer & wine garden, local eats, live music and DJ, cash raffle ($1000) and more! Event sponsors include Clif Bar, Everyday Health, Walden Media, SF Recreation and Park Department, Social Imprints, and Whole Foods.

The 5K Run/Walk steps off at 9:30am next to the Polo Fields, and the scenic course takes runners along Little Speedway Meadow, past Middle Lake by Chain of Lakes Drive, up JFK Drive past the Bison Paddock, Spreckels Lake and Lindley Meadow, then turns for home at Lloyd Lake and follows Middle Drive west to return runners and walkers to the Polo Fields Stables for the big finish. Runners can clock their time at the finish line. Water will be provided along the course.

Registration is required for this event and pre-registration is strongly recommended.

Early check-in will be offered from 5-8 pm on Friday, October 26 at Sunset Cooperative Nursery School, 4245 Lawton Street, San Francisco. Race day check-in opens at 8 am Saturday, October 27 at the Polo Field Stables in Golden Gate Park. The event is just $30 pre-registration and $35 day of race.

All proceeds from this race benefit Sunset Cooperative Nursery School, a beloved community institution and an award-wining San Francisco school. Sunset began in 1940 as the Parkside Play Center, and is the oldest continually operating parent-participation preschool in San Francisco. The school is dedicated to providing a trusting and caring environment for children to play, learn, and grow. For more information, please visit

Registration is open now. The general entry fee is $30 per person (credit cards only) before October 27. On race day, the entry fee is $35 (cash or credit.) All registered participants will receive a runner/walker number and goody bag as well as a free raffle ticket for a chance to win $1000 cash.
