There are so many great festivities planned, it’s definitely an event you don’t want to miss!
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 24, 2012
Dog lovers from around the Bay Area are invited to attend The Whole Enchihuahua, a special breed of event presented by the San Francisco SPCA and 7x7 magazine on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Dolores Park.
“Chihuahuas are a breed most urgently in need of rescue,” says Dr. Jennifer Scarlett, SF SPCA co-president. “Forty to 50% of dogs in Bay Area shelters are part Chihuahua. Our second annual The Whole Enchihuahua is our way of raising the profile of the Chihuahua overpopulation problem and giving everyone an excuse to spend the day among adorable costumed dogs. There are so many great festivities planned, it’s definitely an event you don’t want to miss!”
The Whole Enchihuahua runs from noon until 4 pm, with a costume contest open to all breeds starting at 1 pm. Contest registration is from noon to 1 pm. The first, second and third place winners will receive amazing prize packages from Wag Hotels, Nuena Photography, Mijo & Bambi, Yap Wraps, The San Francisco SPCA and 7x7.
During the event, cats, dogs, birds and bunnies will be available for adoption from the SF SPCA and partner rescues. There will also be grub from the Off the Grid food trucks, and Alice the Chi will be ready to pucker up at Smooch the Pooch kissing booth.
A Google+ photobooth will also be set up, ready to send photos of costumed critters across the web, and a cookie decorating station will give everyone a chance to craft a delicious snack.
Other can’t miss festivities include “Ask a Vet” with Dr. Jeannette Goh, harness and collar fittings from SF SPCA experts – compliments of Pet Food Express and Simply She – and advice from the SF SPCA community cats feral trapping expert.
Special promotions from Zipcar and City Dog Share, the only doggie care co-op, will be available. Throughout the event the Trio Sol de America mariachi band will play live music for a fun day in the sun.
Chihuahuas are disproportionally represented in shelters and rescues. Help end overpopulation by taking advantage of these offers from the San Francisco SPCA:
- Special adoption rates for cats and dogs over 6 months old.
- Free spay/neuter procedure for any Chihuahua or Chihuahua mix through June. Call SF SPCA at 415-554-3030 to make an appointment. Visit sfspca.org/fix for terms and conditions.
