It is time. SharePoint, the CorasWorks system, and the ecosystem have matured to where the time is right to bring a competitive application offering on SharePoint to the cloud

CorasWorks Corporation, a global leader in applications and application development tools for the Microsoft SharePoint platform, today announced it is partnering with SharePoint hosting provider to launch a joint cloud offering on SharePoint.

CorasWorks and are joining forces to offer business applications and a powerful application environment to those already running SharePoint in the cloud with or looking to do so. The joint offering--QuickStart SharePoint Business Suites--will go live next month. It delivers a complete integrated environment for plug-and-play business applications. Unlike siloed SAAS app offerings, organizations can now have a single, integrated work environment with plug-and-play apps across departments, intranets, extranets, and the Internet. The applications are provided with the service by CorasWorks and third party application publishers, or may be created by users leveraging CorasWorks point-and-click wizards.

The new offerings are available on either Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS). Both offerings will be referred to as Foundation Suites and will build on the base WSS and MOSS hosting options currently offered by

"It is time. SharePoint, the CorasWorks system, and the ecosystem have matured to where the time is right to bring a competitive application offering on SharePoint to the cloud," said William Rogers, Chief Workplace Architect at CorasWorks. "Organizations can now easily build out their own custom environments with plug-and-play apps that range from simple collaborative apps, to powerful project management and line of business apps, to communities and apps that integrate enterprise data and cloud services. It is an integrated, customizable environment supporting apps from multiple vendors or built by the organization."

Quick Start SharePoint Business Suites provides two levels of service.

  •     The WSS Foundation Suite provides users with applications and an application environment running on Windows SharePoint Services, powered by CorasWorks. Users have access to core modules available as a monthly service that address departments, horizontal solutions, and industries. They can also add individual business applications available a-la-carte from third-parties publishers via the CorasWorks App Store.
  •     The MOSS Foundation Suite starts with the full benefits of the WSS Foundation Suite. It has extended capabilities powered by the CorasWorks Data Integration Toolset running on MOSS. This offering allows organizations to add modules that are deeper and that extend beyond SharePoint to integrate with enterprise systems and the public cloud. Organizations can add modules such as enhanced business applications including Project Portfolio Management, line of business database applications, web apps for extranets, communities, and web sites. They also have the ability to create their own solutions that integrate enterprise data and cloud services in read-write scenarios.

Both offerings and all applications are provided on an unlimited user basis, meaning there is no per user cost. This allows organizations to add users, integrate applications, distribute functionality, reuse functionality, and expand usage without additional costs. Leveraging the virtual cloud environment of, customers can then "dial up" the level of service to meet their increased usage.

"It is time for SharePoint to really be leveraged to add business value," said Rob Lemear, CEO of "We have great uptake of our basic WSS and MOSS offerings. But, until now, there really hasn't been a cloud offering on SharePoint that delivers immediate business value like other non-SharePoint SAAS application offerings. By partnering with CorasWorks and its ecosystem of partners, we are now able to provide a comprehensive offering and really unleash the potential of SharePoint to add business value in the Cloud."
