Pensacola, FL (PRWEB) November 08, 2011
Launched as a partnership between two proven leaders in online education—Smart Horizons Career Online Education (SHCOE) and EducationDynamics—Sun Coast High School provides adults returning to the education process the opportunity to earn an 18–credit high school diploma and a credentialed career certificate in one convenient, affordable program.
Established in 2009, SHCOE is the world's first AdvancED/SACS accredited online school district. EducationDynamics is an industry leader in helping postsecondary institutions find, enroll and retain students. Founded in 2005, the organization currently serves over 1,200 colleges and universities of all types.
"Due to EducationDynamics' outstanding track record of finding, enrolling, and retaining students for colleges and universities, we were thrilled about their strategic decision to launch an online high school," said Wendy Kauffman, Chief Operating Officer for SHCOE. "So far, Sun Coast High School has been a great success, in terms of the high level of interest EducationDynamics is receiving from thousands of students."
"Although we've only just begun promoting Sun Coast High School on one of our education portals, it's generated far more interest than we expected," said Richard Capezzali, Executive Vice President of EducationDynamics. "Prospective students are self selecting the online high school option and even completing enrollment applications before we've had a chance to speak with them. The Sun Coast High School program is a welcome addition to the EducationDynamics portfolio of offerings. We're excited about the opportunity to help students fulfill their secondary educational goals online and we look forward to growing the program even more when we're able to add it as an option on our other portals."
Deanne Clark, 41, a new Sun Coast High School student and a resident of Live Oak, Florida, likes what she sees so far with Sun Coast High School. "The modules are self–explanatory and you are tested on each concept as you learn it so that you never lose track of where you are. It makes it easier to maintain your focus," she said. "And unlike a GED, I am earning a real high school diploma and learning information I can actually apply to my career. Also, upon graduation, I am obtaining a certificate in Childcare, which will help me in my profession."
As an added bonus, Sun Coast High School students are eligible to enroll in Test Drive College Online once they have completed the high school diploma portion of their Sun Coast coursework. Test Drive College Online is an innovative program that allows students the opportunity to "test drive" an online post–secondary course at no cost or obligation. Students can save up to $2,000 in tuition costs by earning credits toward a full degree with the Test Drive College Online option.
