BlogHer, Inc., the premium cross-platform media network and publisher for women, announced today that Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg will be the morning keynote speaker at BlogHer ’13 on Saturday, July 27, 2013 in Chicago.

BlogHer co-founder and CEO Lisa Stone will interview Sheryl and explore how the concept of leaning in applies to a BlogHer audience rich with independent publishers, influencers, and creatives who are turning their passions into meaningful work that fits with their everyday lives.

BlogHer and LeanIn.Org are also announcing a partnership in tandem with Sheryl’s appearance at the conference. The keynote interview will be immediately followed by a preview of Lean In Circles, small peer groups that meet regularly to share and learn together. BlogHer participants will be able to register their Circles and receive access to unique Lean In content and activities. Over the next year, BlogHer’s Lean In Circle members may participate in quarterly virtual workshops, including one led by the Lean In co-founders.

“Sheryl Sandberg has initiated an active national conversation about women, ambition, and leadership that we are eager to continue at BlogHer ‘13,” said Elisa Camahort Page, Jory Des Jardins, and Lisa Stone, BlogHer co-founders. “Moreover, we consider the partnership with Lean In to be a perfect fit for our community, creating a channel that will deliver on BlogHer’s mission to create opportunities for women online to pursue education, exposure, community, and economic empowerment.”

“BlogHer attendees are on the forefront of actively redefining the work/life dynamic,” said Sheryl Sandberg, COO, Facebook and author of Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead. “Studies show we achieve more in groups than we do as individuals, and Lean In Circles put this idea into practice, creating a uniquely powerful mentoring network. The influential group gathered at BlogHer has the power to inspire their peers, readers, spouses and children, moving us further toward the reality of a truly equal world.”

Sheryl Sandberg began speaking publicly about women’s empowerment with her 2010 Ted Talk “Why We Have Too Few Women Leaders,” and the overwhelming response led her to publish her recent book, Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, and launch LeanIn.Org to provide ongoing encouragement and support for women to lean in to their ambitions. Lean In has spent the nine weeks since its release at the top of the New York Times Best Sellers list, including seven weeks in the number one spot.

BlogHer ‘13 takes place from July 25th to July 27th at the Sheraton Chicago and McCormick Place, Chicago, IL. To register for the conference, please visit: http://www.blogher.com/blogher-13.
