North Oakland’s famed Rockridge neighborhood will be hosting its next big event on Sunday, October 9 with the Rockridge Out & About festival. Sponsored by the Rockridge Neighborhood Association, the event will feature gourmet food and drink from local restaurants and food trucks, live music, DJs and dancing, wellness activities, kids’ activities and picnicking. The festivities will begin at noon and last until six p.m.
“There will be chef demonstrations where chefs show how to make preserves, pies, and other foods,” says Chris Jackson of Rockridge District Association. “Gourmet food and beverage booths will be supplied by Rockridge restaurants, bars, and stores such as Mitama and Tara's Organic Ice Cream plus Oakland food trucks and carts such as Tina Tamale, Tante's, Boffo Cart, Aidell's Sausage, Ohgane Korean BBQ, Sam's ChowderMobile, El Tacobike and Sugah Hill Catering."
The event will feature three mostly jazz stages, including the acclaimed Berkeley High Jazz Combos. Oaklandish's Harvest Hoedown features live music and dance including performances by New Style Motherlode's hip hop troupes and Hipline Belly Dance. Find comfort and beauty in the Wellness Area, or shop local craft artists and retail booths by local merchants including See Jane Run, Crossroads Trading Company, Namaste Yoga and Tootsie's. Valet bike parking and pedicabs available.
