Taruna Madhav Crawford, M.D., a hand and upper extremity specialist and orthopaedic surgeon with MidAmerica Hand to Shoulder Clinic, will discuss shoulder pain at an educational program from 7 – 8 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, 3815 Highland Ave., Downers Grove. The session is free and open to the public.

Dr. Madhav Crawford will discuss the causes of shoulder pain and shoulder injuries vs. the slow onset of pain and stiffness. In addition she will discuss the latest diagnostic tests, techniques and treatment options for shoulder pain.

Shoulder pain may be in the joint itself or from any of the many surrounding muscles, ligaments or tendons. This pain may worsen with activities or movement of the arm or shoulder or as a result of rotator cuff tendonitis, rotator cuff tear, arthritis or other shoulder conditions.

Dr. Madhav Crawford strives to treat her patients as family members, partnering with them to assess both specific conditions and their overall connection to bone and joint health. She treats children to seniors, and she specializes in the treatment of acute trauma and has experience treating patients with industrial workplace injuries, sports injuries and fractures.
