The awards are held annually by Signs Express, inviting all of their 80 centres across the UK and Ireland to enter. The awards give the centres in the network an opportunity to be fully recognised for their individual achievements. With the competition open to all, it was vital each centre put forward their very best and most innovative designs and installation projects from the past 12 months.
Split into four categories – Interior, Exterior, Vehicle and Project, the awards are independently judged by industry experts, British Sign & Graphics Association (BSGA) director David Catanach and Sign Directions’ Magazine editor Val Hurst.
Against stiff competition, Managing Director of Signs Express (Reading) Martin Prodger and his team were awarded the top spot for their consultation, procurement, build and installation of illuminated stainless steel 3D letters for Overbury, the office fit out and refurbishment specialist, on behalf of their client, Harris Corporation.
Signs Express (Reading) were approached by Overbury to assist in the branding of the new European Head Office for their client Harris, as part of a complete fit-out. The installation itself was a major task. The 3D letters for the main entrance had to be fixed directly to the glass with no visible means of support. During consultations with the team at Overbury, Signs Express struck on the solution of bonding the letters on using a specialist 3M adhesive which then precluded removing the large glass panels from the building. The operation was tense; the team had just one chance to get it right….and get it right they did.
Due to the complexity of this project the sign was given exceptional praise from the judges and both felt that ‘Signs Express (Reading) had more than met the challenge by using all of its resources to produce something very sleek and sophisticated.’
The end result is extremely impressive and Overbury are ‘particularly pleased the design brief has been completely met’ said Joe Perella, the contracts manager for Overbury. ‘I would be only too happy to recommend Signs Express (Reading)’
‘This was singularly our most technically and administratively difficult project to date and I would like to thank everybody who had a hand in our success’ commented Martin Prodger, Signs Express (Reading) MD. Coming off the back of our award last year for the ‘Exterior Sign Project of the Year’ it firmly establishes our reputation for being able to deliver exactly what is required.’
