This project was a blank slate for a new kitchen design and our designer, Joe Gelletich, really ran away with it.
Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) October 26, 2011
Signature Kitchens, Additions & Baths, a leading Kitchen Design and Remodeling firm serving the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, recently completed an exciting kitchen remodeling project in the Silver Spring, MD area. The newly remodeled kitchen features improved accessibility, cutting-edge materials and a kitchen design that maximizes the efficiency of the space. The homeowners initially had not planned to remodel their kitchen so soon but were attracted by a promotion being run at Signature’s Rockville, MD location.
“This was an exciting project because the homeowner’s kitchen hadn’t been updated since the 70’s,” Gary Case, owner of Signature Kitchens, Additions & Baths, said. “This project was a blank slate for a new kitchen design and our designer, Joe Gelletich, really ran away with it.” Pictures of the remodeled kitchen can be seen on Signature’s website at http://www.signaturekab.com/silver-spring-kitchen-remodel
“The homeowners came in on a Saturday to talk about their project and what they wanted from a new kitchen design,” Mr. Gelletich said. “I came out to see the space and saw what they meant when they said the kitchen was ‘chopped up.’ The kitchen was completely blocked off from the adjacent living space, an archway separated the kitchen from the dining space, and the counter space was laid out inefficiently.”
“We were so excited about our remodeled kitchen because the old one felt very closed off and inefficient,” the homeowner, Mr. Monkgol, said. “Some people want to make their kitchens bigger – we didn’t have to increase space with an addition, we just had to utilize the floor space properly.”
“They had a good idea of the goals they wanted,” Mr. Gelletich said. “Since the space was wide, they had been thinking of putting a kitchen island in, but we realized it actually cut the space up again, so I showed them how a peninsula in the center of the kitchen could achieve the same goal.”
A large part of the kitchen remodeling process is devoted to the selection of materials and appliances. “The design process was quite easy,” Mrs. Mongkol said. “Everything we needed and everything we wanted to see was right there in the design showroom: everything from handles to cabinetry to countertops to fixtures all the way to the floor itself.”
The kitchen remodel features Sonoma-style Medallion cabinetry, cherry wood with an espresso finish, granite countertops chosen for consistency in appearance, and a General Electric range with a chimney-style hood. All these materials were put to use in creating a contemporary kitchen design that fulfilled the homeowner’s needs and wants. “Our kitchen has undergone such a big transformation from its 70’s past,” Mr. Mongkol said. “We love it!”
