Pepco Holdings Inc., (PHI) Selects SilverTech to Design and Develop New Web Presence

Major utility provider partners with digital marketing agency SilverTech for website strategy, design and development.

Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI), an energy delivery company serving about 2 million customers in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland and New Jersey, announced it has selected SilverTech to design and develop its digital marketing strategy and new public-facing website.

“We wanted a digital marketing partner with experience in the utilities industry that could help us translate our overall brand strategy online and improve the customer experience,” said MaryBeth Vrees, Director of Customer Communications and Marketing at PHI. “The combination of SilverTech’s technical expertise and its focus on design, development and usability made them the right partner to create and implement our new digital strategy.”

The project will include website design, development and a strategic post-launch partnership to further optimize the website’s reach and effectiveness. In an age where customer service and communicating with friends, fans and followers is more important than ever, PHI’s new site will help connect the company with its customers in new and meaningful ways.

PHI’s new site will be built on a responsive platform optimized for both desktop and mobile viewing. Unlike traditional utility provider websites, it will be truly customer focused and easy to navigate, and will feature a billing portal and updated maps. Strong graphic elements and custom photography will convey the newly rebranded image and will integrate the brand’s subsidiaries and third-party service platforms.

“The new site we will create will be more than a marketing tool; it also will provide a way for PHI to respond to and learn about its customers,” said Jeff McPherson, SilverTech’s Director of Agency Development. “This project is an opportunity to change the way that utilities market themselves online and will set PHI apart from its competitors. SilverTech also partnered with PHI in 2011 to create the utility’s comprehensive online communication strategy and implementation plan, and in 2012 to overhaul PHI’s storm center based on customer feedback.
