With events such as these, we can look forward to better trade relations and further deepening of the economic ties between the US and all of Asia.

More than 150 senior business executives from the United States and other countries around the world recently converged in Singapore for the first-ever Trade Winds Forum in Asia. The event, which was held from May 16-18 at the Hotel InterContinental Singapore, was a business development conference and trade mission organized by the US Commercial Service (CS).
Trade Winds Forum brings together industry leaders and government officials to discuss current business trends and the opportunities for expanded trade throughout the Asian region. Among the attendees were David Adelman, U.S. Ambassador to Singapore, and Patrick Santillo, Senior Commercial Officer for CS Singapore.
Janus Corporate Solutions, a leading professional corporate services firm in Singapore, was asked to lead the discussion panel on doing business in Singapore and the Asian region. The Janus-led discussion was titled “Establishing Your Asian Footprint: Myths and Realities” and was facilitated by Ms. Audrey Tong - the Manager of Corporate Services at Janus.
Audrey started the panel by explaining various advantages of setting up a business in Singapore, such as its strategic location within Asia, the ease of setting up a business, the favorable tax system, and its attractive quality of life. An extensive discussion with the participants followed with many questions focused on the specific steps involved in setting up a company in Singapore.
“As an advocate of fostering global entrepreneurship and an evangelist for business in Singapore, we were very happy to be a part of the first ever Trade Winds Forum,” said Ms. Tong. “I am glad that I was able to provide more clarity for the participants about how they can expand their operations globally by establishing a presence in Singapore and take advantage of Singapore’s favorable tax system.”
Janus’ Business Development Manager, Ms. Sayonnara Ith, was very enthusiastic about the Forum’s potential effect on trade between the US and the Asian region.
“Overall, this was a very well-organized event. Delegates from many parts of the world, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and US provided a rich diversity of views on the current business climate. We were able to meet with the US Ambassador and other trade officials,” she said. “With events such as these, we can look forward to better trade relations and further deepening of the economic ties between the US and all of Asia.”
