SingSnap, a leading internet karaoke website is joining the fight against cancer by promoting a smoke-free lifestyle and encouraging its members to band together in mutual support as smokers take up the challenge to quit. According to the website,

"This event will coincide with the American National Smoke Out Day on November 17th, and SingSnap and the SingSnap Community are going to rally around our smoking friends in support and encouragement of their decision to quit." Says Trevor McGuire SingSnap President and CEO "As a karaoke site, it just makes sense that we encourage our members who smoke to quit and experience what life without tobacco can do for their singing. As an entertainment community, we wanted to make it fun and supportive and give our members something to do while they are going the process of quitting."

SingSnap has created a two week long challenge where users can post a daily journal entry about their struggles and progress, perform suggested breathing and singing exercises and track their results by singing a challenging song at the beginning of the adventure and singing it again at the end to see how even a short time can improve their performance. They have even included links to some great tips from respected sources.

In a concerted effort to encourage, support and stand behind those who choose to take up the challenge, SingSnap has dedicated one of their chat rooms solely to this event where members can go and meet up with one another and sing live, putting a mic in their hand instead of a cigarette.

No one is excluded; even non-smokers are invited and encouraged to participate by becoming a 'sponsor'. Sponsors will be asked to join in the public discussions, check in on challengers, join them in the chat room, and offer support and encouragement throughout the process.

Says McGuire, "We hope that through this challenge and subsequent health challenges we have planned, that we can make a positive impact on the lives of our karaoke family and perhaps consequently on their own families as well and give back to the community that gives us so much enjoyment every day."
