Banff, Alberta (PRWEB) November 21, 2006 -- The eyes of the world will be on Banff Lake Louise as the Winterstart World Cup ski races sponsored by Bombardier get underway Nov. 25-Dec. 3.
The fastest men and women skiers on the planet compete in Super G and Downhill races at Lake Louise Mountain Resort. The men go head-to-head Nov. 25-26 and the women race Dec. 1-3.
The Winterstart World Cup event acts as a kick-off for a superb winter season of skiing and snowboarding fun in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and Banff National Park. It is the first World Cup event of the 2006/7 race season in North America and is featured in the new www.banfflakelouise.com destination website.
Alberta's unique, dry and fluffy snow provides professional ski racers and recreational skiers and snowboarders with an early opportunity to enjoy the Canadian Rockies this winter.
In addition to the races, Banff Lake Louise presents the popular Winterstart Festival of outdoor and indoor activities, making the races a celebration that everyone can enjoy. Ski Banff @ Norquay, a renowned family resort just minutes from Banff features night skiing and opens Nov 10. The Festival action in the 200 Block Banff Avenue of Banff features the amateur rail jam and a giant inflatable outdoor movie screen on Nov. 24, and the Santa Claus Parade of Lights (7:15 p.m.) in the spotlight, along with a $10,000 pro rail jam, on Nov. 25.
Celebrations include an outdoor food fair featuring Banff's favourite restaurant specialties, a carnival game tent, face painting, and great shopping for unique Christmas gifts.
Ski packages , geared to the World Cup races and the Winterstart Festival, and featuring Banff Lake Louise attractions, are available. Ski packages are available throughout the ski season.
