Learning to recover a vehicle from an out of control skid is a vital skill for both on the track and on public roads.

New "Skid Pan Driving Experiences" have been added to the TrackDays.co.uk website. Skid driving control is a great skill to have in both wet and icy road surfaces.
Learning to recover a skidding car is not only an invaluable skill to have when it comes to driving safety, but it is also great fun. Skid control is not a natural driving skill. In wet or icy road conditions, more often than not when a driver loses control of their vehicle, their natural reaction is to over compensate with the steering wheel and brake pedals. This causes the skidding problem to worsen.
On this skid pan driving experience the instructors will give guest drivers expert advice on how to recover an out of control car from a skid. Instructions are given in a safe and controlled environment whilst at the same time making it an enjoyable lesson.
At the Rockingham and Silverstone racing circuit, guests will actually be driving their car over a kick-plate which will send them sliding in a random direction over a slippery surface. That is if they can react fast enough to stop their car going into a spin.
Dan Jones, Operations Manager for TrackDays.co.uk said “Learning to recover a vehicle from an out of control skid is a vital skill for both on the track and on public roads.”
