Austin, TX (PRWEB) September 25, 2012
Mattress retailer Sleep Experts continues its dedication to giving back to the local communities it serves by sharing the gift of sleep with families and children in need. The company has made an initial donation of 15 mattresses to the Center for Child Protection, an Austin nonprofit involved in the investigation of crimes against children.
Children come to the Center for Child Protection in the crisis of an outcry of abuse, often by a trusted adult, and the search for a family member to care for and protect them is based on the availability of resources to make the child safe. By providing the children with basic needs such as a bed, the caregivers and professionals can focus on the child’s other needs for protection, counseling and long-term safety.
“We are extremely grateful to Sleep Experts for supporting our children with the necessity of a safe place to sleep,” said Michael Torres, executive director for the Center for Child Protection. “Often, a bed allows a child to be placed with a protective family member versus going into foster care.”
This donation is part of Sleep Experts’ Share the Gift of Sleep program, in which every customer’s old bed is recycled and donated to families in need in partnership with local non-profit organizations. In addition to the Center for Child Protection, Sleep Experts’ Austin community partners include SafePlace, Foundation Communities and Saint Louise House.
Founded in North Texas in 2003 by former Austin residents Chris and Christine Cook, Sleep Experts recently opened its sixth Austin location in Cedar Park at the corner of Whitestone Boulevard and the 183A Toll Road. Other locations include Steiner Ranch, Lakeline, La Frontera, Sunset Valley and Arboretum West. The company expects to have 10 stores operating in the Austin market by the end of 2012.
