Colton, CA (PRWEB) December 14, 2012
The mathematics programs at all of THINK Together middle and elementary schools in both San Bernardino and Riverside Counties got a boost with a $25,000 donation from the SL Gimbel Advised Fund at The Community Foundation Serving the Counties of Riverside and San Bernardino.
While the school day ends about 3 p.m. for many children, at more than 150 Inland Empire schools the learning will continue with THINK Together, one of the fastest-growing providers of academic support programs in California.
“This donation will purchase new Math Blast and Versatile Kits, which allow us to teach mathematics using games and a highly effective curriculum,” says Adriana Kingston, THINK Together’s General Manager of Riverside County. “The kids have so much fun, they don’t realize that they are learning math.”
In this time of budget cuts, teacher furloughs and reduced services to schools and students, THINK Together provides extended learning services that are critical to student success.
“Our extended learning programs are aligned with classroom learning to support students, teachers and administration in their mission of preparing our children to live full and productive lives,” said Randy Barth, CEO and Founder of THINK Together.
This generous donation, which will benefit more than12,000 Inland Empire students, was made possible by the generosity of the late Susan Gimbel, an ultra-marathon runner who loved the outdoors and passionately supported education, the arts and cancer research. She lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2006 and made gifts like this one her legacy. The Community Foundation Serving the Counties of Riverside and San Bernardino was founded in 1941 and since 1990, when records were computerized, has dispensed more than $42.9 million in grants and scholarships to our region.
