“Our small ship adventures take travelers into an untamed wilderness and allow up-close experiences with the natural wonders of this ecological hotspot that are unattainable with the larger cruise ships,” said Adventure Life Operations Director Jonathan Brunger. “Brown and black bears, moose, otters, and bald eagles share this region with a myriad of humpback whales, orcas and other aquatic life. It’s truly an amazing place.”
Adventure Life’s more than two dozen small ship adventures to Alaska for 2012 include itineraries with the following vessels among others.
- Wilderness Explorer -The newly renovated 76-guest Wilderness Explorer is equipped for action, adventure, and exploration. The ship offers a main lounge that evokes the feel of a National Park Lodge or neighborhood pub, with ample space on deck for wildlife viewing. Onboard kayaks; stand-up paddle boards; inflatable skiffs; hiking poles; yoga mats; a hydrophone for listening below-surface; and a bow-mounted underwater camera separates this ship from most of the competition.
- Safari Explorer – This 40-passenger luxury expedition ship is exquisitely appointed with amenities such as an intimate Wine Library and spa area, including a large hot tub, sauna, fitness equipment, complimentary massages, and yoga classes. Common to all Safari Explorer staterooms are: Heated tile floors in bathroom; Tempur-Pedic® memory foam mattresses; Flat-screen TV/DVD; iPod docking station; and view windows (no portholes). The Safari Explorer offers an exceptional way to cruise Alaska and other beautiful regions in style.
- Safari Spirit – The 12-passenger Safari Spirit features warm, rich cherry woods which add elegance to the casual atmosphere onboard. This luxury yacht offers a way to experience remote regions and Alaska in luxury. The yacht is equipped with an on-deck hot tub, sauna, and fitness equipment. Onboard adventure equipment includes kayaks; stand-up paddle boards; inflatable skiff; hiking poles; and fishing poles and tackle.
“The landscape of Alaska is as wild as the animals that roam the region,” said Brunger. “Our small ship adventures visit the famous Prince William Sound, Glacier Bay, Point Adolphus, and the iconic Denali Park where travelers can enjoy river rafting, horseback riding and trekking in the shadow of Mount McKinley.”
