The rise of mobile over the last decade is undeniable with it completely sculpting and changing the way consumers call, text, shop and interact with each other. Predictions for 2013 expect this to increase even more so with Visa Europe claiming that 2013 will see a flurry of contactless mobile payment services for consumers and at the end of the year, up to 80 different types of smartphones will be capable of handling contactless payments.

Furthermore, a study carried out by Shop.org and Forrestor research named the ‘State of Retailing’ found that mobile payments will be essential if retailers wish to remain competitive. 51 percent of the participating retailers said that the top priority in 2013 was optimisation, including mobile payments.
