Lifetime Training Solutions, a division of Smart Horizons, has unveiled the newest addition to their Vocational Job Training (VJT) program: Child Development Associate. The Child Development Associate program contains instructional units aligned to the competencies and content areas required to obtain the National Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential. This program is designed to fulfill the 120 hours of professional development required by The Council for Professional Recognition, but it also includes the popular training catalogs available in Lifetime Training Solutions’ Transitional Life Skills program.

“The Child Development Associate program provides an excellent foundation in child care training for anyone interested in a career within this field,” said Steve Samaha, Director of Lifetime Training Solutions. “However, the program would also be ideal for case managers or group home administrators who work with children on a daily basis.”

Upon successful completion of the Child Development Associate program, learners are able to identify aspects of a safe and healthy environment that is conducive to learning and methods that support the social and emotional development of children. They are also able to identify attributes of a well-run child care program that is responsive to the needs of the children and their families, as well as aspects of professionalism and methods that contribute to a well-run program.

Lifetime Training Solutions courses are housed on the secure, proprietary NexPort Campus learning management system, which allows program administrators, directors, or training coordinators to track and report on student progress in real time. The next generation online learning and knowledge management platform now provides fully integrated synchronous learning using the NexMeeting online conferencing system that includes integrated telephone and computer-based audio, slide presentations, chat, white boards, and recording capability. Instructors and administrators are able to conduct web-based seminars and classes that are accessible to subscribers in even the most remote regions. NexPort Campus also supports interactive engagement within learning communities through the use of videos, wikis, blogs, collaborative web pages, and threaded discussions.
