New York, NY (PRWEB) April 1, 2010
SmartSource Computer & Audio Visual Rentals (Hauppauge, NY), one of the nation’s leading providers of computer, audio visual (AV) and trade show technology rentals and services, announced today that its National Accounts Executive Ken Edwards has been nominated as President-Elect of the Meeting Professionals International of Greater New York (MPIGNY). It is one of the world’s largest chapters of the Meeting Professionals International (MPI), a global community of meeting and event professionals. Edwards will assume the position effective July 1, 2010 for the 2010-2011 term and then become MPIGNY President the following year.
According to SmartSource Computer & Audio Visual Rentals President and CEO Mike McClernon, “Ken has devoted many years to help this organization and its goal of enhancing the meeting planning profession. Ken’s goal in participating in this organization is to be an active, supportive member, and at the same time, establish relationships that will be helpful to his business. He consistently achieves both goals.”
Edwards’ recent MPIGNY nomination follows his active involvement in MPIGNY spanning over 28 years. He first became a member of the organization in 1982. Since that time, he has held multiple leadership positions, from Director of Marketing and Vice President of Communications to Vice President of Finance. He also served as a member of the NYMIX Committee and Auction Committee. He credits the organization with being a major factor in his professional development and career advancement at SmartSource.
“I have been involved in the meeting and convention industry since 1978,” said Edwards. “One of the best professional decisions I made was to become a member of the Meeting Professionals International. The organization has been key in helping me develop my skill set, build my brand and build the brand of my company, SmartSource Computer & Audio Visual Rentals, formerly known as Rent-a-PC.”
He continued, “MPI members are a close-knit group of professionals who share common values of continuing education and professional development so that we can provide the highest quality of service to our clients.”
In fact, Edwards has proven himself a consummate professional and a high achiever. Both have contributed to his recognition as SmartSource’s top sales executive for the last five years. Additionally, his performance has been instrumental in earning SmartSource a top trade show and meeting industry award, the “2009 Top Industry Supplier Award,” which was presented by Conventions.net, the world’s leading online resource for convention, tradeshow, and conference planning.
When he is not excelling in his professional life, Edwards channels his drive as a competitive runner and cyclist. He has completed seven marathons including the New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago marathons.
Edwards is married and resides in New York City.
