Smashburger, a fast-casual “better burger” restaurant, will open its first Northern California location in Citrus Heights on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. The restaurant will open at 5500 Sunrise Boulevard and bring 100-percent Certified Angus Beef burgers, an array of sides and delicious shakes to local residents. This is the first of five Sacramento-area Smashburgers slated to open over the next two years.
In addition to Smashburger’s traditional menu items, the Sacramento restaurants will feature customized regional items that were created with local flavors and tastes in mind. The Sacramento menu includes the NorCal Smashburger, which Sacramento-area residents had a hand in naming. In Smashburger’s first-ever vote to name one of its menu items, the NorCal Smashburger beat out its competitors to win the spot on the Sacramento menu. This burger features brie cheese, applewood smoked bacon, sliced balsamic-marinated tomatoes, grilled onions, lettuce and mayo on a sourdough bun. The new Sacramento menu will also debut the Dulce de Leche Shake and the Sunset Smashsalad with grilled chicken, sliced balsamic-marinated tomatoes, raisins, cranberries, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, blue cheese crumbles, crisp romaine, spinach and arugula lettuce with balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
Known for the cooking method used to create the perfect burger, Smashburgers start at $3.99 with a one-fourth, one-third or half-pound ball of 100-percent Certified Angus Beef—fresh, not frozen—smashed, seared and seasoned on a flat grill. To further the “better burger” experience, Smashburgers are served on a toasted artisan bun and topped with a selection of real cheeses, the freshest produce, and top-quality condiments.
Smashburger is known for its savory burgers, but the restaurant also serves up delicious Smashchicken sandwiches, Smashdogs, and Smashsalads, with sides like veggie frites, sweet potato Smashfries and rosemary and garlic–seasoned Smashfries. Burger lovers can pair their meals with regional beer and wine selections as well as Häagen-Dazs shakes and root-beer floats.
