"The new website is really an extension of the great work we're already doing on the print side of our business," said Mark Vosskamp, general manager of Laker Media, which produces the top two publications at Smith Mountain Lake. The Smith Mountain Laker is a 25,000 circulation bi-monthly magazine that focuses on water activities, entertainment and dining at Smith Mountain Lake, while Laker Weekly is a newspaper distributed every Friday to more than 25,000 residents that serves as the area's top community resource.

News, features and calendar items from the Smith Mountain Laker and Laker Weekly are automatically streamed onto the website each day, Vosskamp said. In addition, visitors can find extensive tourist information on Smith Mountain Lake, a 22,000-acre lake with 500 miles of shoreline nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia.
