Gray October skies, colder temperatures and rain are an adrenalin rush for many thousands of people in the Northwest. That’s because the change in weather is excellent news for snow sport enthusiasts, especially snowmobilers.
For thousands of snowmobilers, it conjures up images of sledding on fresh, clean snow -- the coolest ride in the Northwest.
Because the snow season is almost here, it’s time to celebrate the kickoff to winter for thousands of people converging in Puyallup next weekend for the 15th annual Washington Snowmobile Expo and Swap Meet, October 21-22 at the Western Washington Fairgrounds.
In addition to avalanche safety and GPS training, there will be more than 200 exhibits:
- All major snowmobile manufacturers
- Specialty mountain sleds
- Trailers
- Clothing
- High-performance parts and accessories
- Great swap meet bargains
- Fabulous destination packages
There will be drawing for great give-a-ways. A ticketed admission for each day automatically enters attendees in four drawings for Saturday’s ticket as well as for Sunday’s ticket.
Hours: Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $10. Children 12 and under are admitted for free.
The huge event is sponsored by the Washington State Snowmobile Association, http://www.wssa.us, a non-profit group founded in 1972, and is run by hardworking volunteers to expand, protect and preserve access to public lands while promoting recreational snowmobiling as a fun, family sport.
