The Virginia personal injury and disability benefits law firm of Marks & Harrison is pleased to announce the addition of Joanna L. Suyes to the firm’s Social Security disability team.
The Virginia disability benefits attorney will bolster the ranks of the firm’s experienced team of lawyers, paralegals and investigators who have assisted thousands of clients throughout the state in obtaining the Social Security disability benefits they deserve.
Suyes is a former legal assistant at Marks & Harrison who earned her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from the University of Richmond’s T.C. Williams School of Law, graduating cum laude. She has since worked as an associate at Marks & Harrison, focusing her practice in the areas of personal injury and wage and hour cases.
She is admitted to practice before the state courts of Virginia as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia. She is a member of both the National Employment Lawyers Association and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives.
The attorney has written articles that have been published in The Journal of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Poverty Law Center. She has presented seminars on Social Security and wage and hour cases. She handles Social Security cases pro bono for the Legal Information Network for Cancer.
A Chesterfield County native, Suyes earned her undergraduate degree from the College of William & Mary and received her Master of Divinity degree from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.
As one of the firm’s Virginia Social Security disability lawyers, Suyes will assist Marks & Harrison clients in obtaining benefits that include Social Security Disability Insurance Benefits (SSDIB) and Supplement Security Income (SSI).
