With an average of 11% growth in August alone, Telecom brands seem to be soaring high above their Airline counterparts who saw a 4% growth in the same period. However, averages tell only part of the story. There were huge variances amongst the brands observed. For example, some Asian telecom brands like Tata Docomo saw growth as high as 30% in a single month - in sharp contrast to well known telecom companies whose growth was around 3%. Airlines also saw similar outliers with AIr Canada seeing 10% growth while established and large Facebook brands like Southwest enjoying a more modest growth rate of 1%.

These, and other interesting data were provided by Unmetric, the Social Media Benchmarking and Competitive Intelligence Company based on its growing database of the social media analytics of over a thousand brands across the world.
