People did not join Facebook to benefit our businesses. People may choose to “Like” our businesses and interact with them, but we have to do the work to earn their trust

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 22, 2014

Visible Strategies CEO, Margaret Ross, is This Week in America’s expert guest commentator discussing digital marketing and social media success secrets with host Ric Bratton. This Week in America is a national radio show broadcasted on over 100 stations.

Bratton welcomes audience saying, “The topic today is social media and how to use it to benefit your business, career, and brand. “ He continues, “Our specific focus is on using Facebook.” Bratton continues, “Margaret Ross is an award winning business consultant, a recognized author, a regularly featured guest on America’s top media channels discussing marketing, technology, and cyber bullying prevention. Welcome, Margaret.”

Ross begins with a digital business briefing. “Facebook is a leading social media application, claiming over one billion members. Although the company started in the United States, fewer than 30 percent of its users are from the U.S. This 30 percent number should not be underestimated. It represents nearly 70 percent of America’s adults. ”

In answer to our host’s query on big Facebook changes impacting business users, Ross replies, “There are two significant Facebook changes impacting both personal and business accounts. One is the new public lack of privacy offered by Facebook. Secondly, they are making it harder for businesses to get their status updates in front of their followers without first paying Facebook for advertising space. This change makes the medium more expensive for businesses with limited budgets and more profitable for Facebook.

When asked for an insight for fledgling digital marketers, Ross replies, “We need to remember that people did not join Facebook to benefit our businesses. People may choose to “Like” our businesses and interact with them, but we have to be willing do the work and earn their trust.”

Bratton asks the question often on business owners’ minds, “How can I get more ‘Likes’ on my business page?” Ross top three tips were as follows:
1. Get active: schedule 10 minutes daily.
2. Ask for “Likes”: people are likely to respond.
3. Offer incentives: specials, promotions, exclusive content or access.
