On May 28, fishbat, one of the nation’s leading social media agencies, examines the future of social media advertising and its potential to skyrocket.

According to an article published by Business Insider, a recent report from BI Intelligence researched the state of social media marketing and its progression. The article outlines four major reasons why social media advertising is predicted to grow rapidly.

One main reason is because social media networks have dense databases with a large number of users. Social media users also show high levels of engagement. For instance, the article says average Americans were spending close to 12 hours per month on social media last year. The 18-24 year old demographic actually averaged about 20 hours.

The article cites that businesses will spend up to $11 billion in social media advertisements in 2017. This is mostly due to the fact that mobile usage is continuing to rise. As mobile use increases, so does the spending for ads on smartphone or tablet apps.

Justin Maas, vice president of client relations at fishbat says as technology emerges, social media agencies have to look for new ways to reach consumers. “With each new innovation, we are striving to find new routes to market to consumers,” he says. “Mobile app and in-stream advertising are becoming a huge part of this industry. More people are spending time on their tablets and smartphones than they are on their PC, so it’s imperative to begin creating ads for those mediums.”

Maas also says the rise in social media advertising is great for business. “Social networks are becoming more popular, and as user numbers continue to increase, brands must learn to allocate more funds to digital marketing,” he says. “That’s great for us, but it also prompts competition. We have to make sure our efforts are consistent and effective. We are constantly trying new methods to advertise and developing campaigns for new technologies. The future will hold great things for social media advertising and we’re hoping to be at the forefront.”
