On friday 1 March, Pablo Rodriguez Pina, co-founder and co-director of the Perth (Western Australia) based software company announced the company will be evaluating cross platform Git Client SmartGit for Java based software development projects.
The company, which focuses on the development of cross platform custom software solutions will be using the 30 day trial to evaluate the features, performance and stability of the cross platform GIT client.
Pablo Rodriguez Pina announced the reasons for this evaluation: “We use NetBeans for our Java development projects. We are very happy with the IDE in general. We find NetBeans version control capabilities very mature for SVN and CSV but we noted some GIT clients such as SmartGit or TortoiseGIT offer additional features and a more mature file conflict resolution. We are aware NetBeans is evolving in this regard but we have realised that at this point in time we can improve our development process with the aid of an external GIT client. We came across SmartGit and we have decided to perform an evaluation”
SmartGit/Hg is Java based client for Git and Mercurial that runs on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
SmartGit/Hg comes with a built-in SSH client, File Compare and 3-Way-Merge and integrates with GitHub, Assembla and other hosting providers to Identify team-mate commits by their gravatars. SmartGit allows the user to reorder commits before pushing, commit individual lines within a file or resurrect lost commits. It allows to see the repository state at one glance showing: working tree, Git's Index, available branches and commits that need to be pushed.
