Jayaswal and Patton's work presents an integrated technology, Design for Trustworthy Software (DFTS), to address software quality issues upstream, in order to prevent bugs in implementation rather than finding and eliminating them after the fact.

The Crosby Medal was established by the ASQ in honor of the late Philip B. Crosby, noted quality management leader, and is awarded for "authoring a distinguished book contributing significantly to the extension of the philosophy and application of the principles, methods, or techniques of quality management."

The authors received the award at the American Society for Quality's World Congress in Houston, Texas, last month. The event was attended by a host of invited dignitaries from industry, academia and government. For more information, visit
