One of the featured speakers at this year's event will be RhinoSoft VP Jonathan Lampe, who will discuss disruptive strategies that allow software firms to attack existing markets.
"One of the best ways to attack an existing market is to offer more value for less money," said Lampe. "My session will talk about how RhinoSoft is using this strategy today to enter the managed file transfer industry."
Lampe will also discuss other disruptive strategies he has used in his ten years of product management.
"I've never worked for a company that had the biggest marketing budget in its industry, so my teams have always needed to be creative and frugal at the same time," said Lampe, "You can win market share if you can capitalize on evolving requirements faster than your competition or understand which areas your competition is unwilling or unable to defend."
Today RhinoSoft competes with several firms whose revenues are currently two to five times greater, but RhinoSoft enjoys a rate of growth and new customer acquisition that is far above the industry average. Lampe attributes much of that to another proven strategy: opening up new fronts against the competition while they are otherwise engaged.
"While legacy competition was fighting over a fatigued market in the US, RhinoSoft's Serv-U FTP server became a market leader in China, Korea and other emerging economies," said Lampe. "The joy of working with a nimble, privately-held firm like RhinoSoft is that you can move as fast as new customers appear, and win an unfair share of them as your own."
