Free Alert Service Launched to Help Consumers Find PlayStation 3 (PS3) Units for Holiday Shopping Season
As the 2006 holidays rapidly approach, the number one gift on many wish lists is expected to be Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3). Because the PS3 is forecasted to be difficult to find online and offline, PS3PriceShopper.com has launched a free email service, which will alert consumers when the PS3 becomes available at various retailers across the Internet.
Oklahoma City, Okla. (PRWEB) November 7, 2006 -- As the holiday shopping season gets underway, the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) is expected to be one of the most popular and scarce gifts worldwide. PS3PriceShopper.com today announced that it has launched a free email service, which will alert consumers when the Sony PS3 becomes available at various online merchants and online auction Websites and it will offer up-to-date price comparisons.
James Preston, chief editor for PS3PriceShopper.com, said the service was setup to help save time and money for consumers. He said consumers can signup for the free alert service by visiting http://www.PS3PriceShopper.com and submitting their name and email address.
"We decided to introduce our PS3 alert service so that consumers didn't have to spend countless hours online or in stores searching for hard-to-find PlayStation 3 units," said Preston. "All consumers have to do is enter their names and email addresses and we'll send them emails as PS3 units become available and we'll send them regular price comparisons so they can make informed decisions on where to buy."
According to Preston, the alert service will regularly update as new merchants offer PS3 units and it will also provide detailed reviews of PS3 games as well as other PS3 news.
In addition, consumers who sign up for the free alert service will also receive a complimentary copy of The PlayStation 3 Buyer's Guide, a downloadable guide with information about the PS3, a detailed Xbox 360 vs. PS3 comparison, PS3 game reviews and much more.
Sony announced earlier this year that it would launch the PS3 in November 2006 in Japan, North America and Europe simultaneously. Sony also announced that it would produce about one million units per month during the holiday season.
The PS3 uses Blu-ray Disc technology for its video games and it also features the most powerful computer processor ever included in a video game console. Sony plans to offer two variations of the PS3 gaming system. One will have 20 GBs of storage space and will sell for $499 USD and the higher end model will offer 60 GBs of storage for a $599 USD price tag.
The PS3 is expected to be the most popular gaming system for the 2006 holiday season, much like the Microsoft Xbox 360 dominated holiday wish lists in 2005. The PS3, however, will have stiff competition as Nintendo debuts its much anticipated Wii unit for the holiday 2006 season as well.
PS3PriceShopper.com is an online consumer shopping resource, which offers news, price comparisons and much more on the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) gaming system.
