Join Dorsey’s Locker for the best “Texas Style” Soul Food and the best Classic Blues every Wednesday evening. Connecting with their Texas Roots, Dorsey’s Locker has reintroduced “Down Home Blues” as the feature of their nightly Supper Club on Wednesdays. Two classic Blues Bands are scheduled to perform on alternating weeks from 6-10 p.m.
Alabama Mike and Band is scheduled for the first and third Wednesday. According to Alabama Mike’s website bio, he has been described as a “hard-driving, Chicago-style blues singer with the ability to make you feel as if you’ve revisited the early Chess Records days. Alabama Mike is a force on the microphone with that first-rate, church-house tenor that he was blessed with. He has a soul that will remind you of a young BB King or Buddy Guy, Elmore James and little Johnny Taylor.”
Bobbie “Spider” Webb and the Smooth Blues Band, is scheduled for the second and fourth Wednesday. According to Bobbie Webb’s website bit, “Bobbie Webb is a musician you can count on to get the job done right in style every time. Whether performing with his Smooth Blues Band, or backing blues greats on tour, Bobbie Webb is "The Man." He has performed with and has backed, BB King, Bobby Bland, Charles Brown, Albert King, Lowell Fulsom, Etta James, Percy Mayfield, T-Bone Walker, Little Milton, Clarence “Fillmore” Sims, Frankie Lee, Lowell Fulsome, John Lee Hooker, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vincent, Charles Brown, Charlie Musslewhite, Al Rapone, Queen Ida, and many, many more. About the company:
The Dorsey family's tradition of serving authentic soul food in Oakland began in 1941, when Henry and Wilma Dorsey opened their family restaurant in West Oakland on 18th & Market, supported by a close knit family. The business relocated in 1956 to Bosn's Locker on Shattuck Avenue where a cocktail lounge was added to the Restaurant under the supervision of Clarence Dorsey, with the assistance of brothers, Tom, Armstead and Jack Dorsey. Three years later another brother, Martin Luther, who followed their father's career path as an educator in Texas, came to Oakland and personally hand built the existing bar at "The Locker". Henry and Wilma continued to provide appetizing "Texas Style" soul food, until Henry's death and Dorsey's Bosn Locker was sold in 1986. However, in 1996 the next generation of Dorsey's reclaimed its legacy by forming Dorsey & Associates, Inc., to continue the business as Dorsey's Locker, Oakland’s best soul food restaurant.
